From humble beginnings based at Black Barn Winery in Havelock North selling oils at the Hawke’s Bay Farmers’ Market The Village Press are now stocked all across New Zealand. Fighting for standout on the supermarket shelves, The Village Press required a brand and packaging refresh to reflect their premium offering and the quality of the olive oil inside.

The new packaging needed to communicate the product’s freshness and create clear differentiation between the multiple tiers and varietals. The original stone olive press informed a simple roundel logo developed to fit the restricted label space. Inspiration was drawn from premium wine brands with the information handwritten to create a more bespoke handcrafted feel with a nod to their farmer’s market origins.
